Joan (or Jane) was the daughter of Thomas Knighton and his first wife, Anne Underhill.[1][2] She was born, say, 1494.[2]
Joan married, first, Charles Bull, son of Richard and Ellen (Skipwith) Bull.[1][2] Greene estimates that they were born about 1510.[2] Richardson says they were married before 1505, but a review of his sources could not find the basis for that claim.
Joan and Charles had the following children:
Charles Bull's will indicates that they had had other children who had died before he made his will in June 1532.[2]
Joan's first husband, Charles Bull, died on June 27, 1532.[2]
Joan married, second, Robert Warton. She married, third, Thomas Hartwell, Gent.[1] Warton had died and Joan had married Hartwell before July 16, 1539, when the inquisition post mortem of her first husband was held.[2]
No further record has been found of Joan after July 16, 1539.[2]
