Daniel was born abt 1828. He is the son of James Knowles and Sarah Love. Daniel Knowles was married to Elvira A., they had six sons.

Corp. Daniel G. Knowles enlisted in 1862, Monroeville, Alabama, he was mustered into Company F, 36th Alabama Regiment. He was captured and held in Camp Chase where he died of Chronic Diarrhea on 6 November 1864. He is buried in the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery, Row 13, #33, grave 421.[1][2]
