Note: BIOGRAPHY: Note: He moved to TX. with his parents in 1877. After hismarriage they lived for a number of years in Mills Co. TX. Later around1905, they moved to NM. They first lived at Knowles then moved toMonument. He built a telephone line from Lovington to Carlsbad and histwo oldest sons rode horseback and kept it up. Rube was a rancher andalso owned a general mercantile store in Monument. He left there in 1914and bought the S CrossRanch near Lakewood 17 miles south of Artesia, NM.He raised horses and mules which he drove to Texas to sell. His main"bronc-busters" were his son Bill and his cousin Howell Walker. Had hestayed in Monument, he probably have become an oil millionaire. He diedat the age of 101years and 9 days.
