Bramley is the son of Alfred Knowles and Mary Peterson.[1]
Bram, born in 1900 in Melbourne, first visited Tasmania when he was in his early twenties. He married in Melbourne (in 1930)[2] and raised his family at 120 Reynard Street, West Coburg, but returned to Tasmania in 1965. Bram's wife, Ila, passed away shortly after returning to Tasmania and Bram passed away in January, 1970. Bram and Ila are buried together at Cornelian Bay Cemetery, Hobart, Tasmania.[3]
Bram's first trip to Tasmania was a result of being sent there by Cadbury's, the chocolate people, to enter into the Australasian Window Dressing Competition, in which he won, not only first prize, but second prize as well! During his six-week stay, Bram made contact with his uncle Jack (John Pennell Knowles) and stayed in his uncle's hotel. [4]
