Biography

Joseph Beverly Knowles was born on 5 March 1830 in Monroe, Georgia, United States, son of Robert Knowles (1801–1865) and Elizabeth Slaughter (~1809– ).[1]

Joseph (19) married Lucinda Flournoy (18) (born in 1830 in North Carolina, United States) on 12 December 1849 in Russell, Alabama.[2] [3] Their known children were:

  • In 1850, Joseph (20)'s occupation was 'farmer'. He was living with his wife, Lucinda (20). [4]
  • In 1860, Joseph (30)'s occupation was 'carriage trimmer'. He was living with his wife, Lucinda (28); and his sister, Joanna (2). [5]

Joseph died on 18 August 1862 in Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee, United States, aged 32. He was buried in Bethel Confederate Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee.[1]
