Biography

Elmira (Almira in most records) Davis was born about 1807 in Shirley, Massachusetts. Most census records show her place of birth as Massachusetts. The census records showing New Hampshire as her place of birth are an error.

She married Edward Knowlton on April 9, 1832 in Framingham, Massachusetts.

Elmira passed away December 31, 1891 in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Research Notes

The 1865 Massachusetts State Census shows Emira (58 years old, born in New Hampshire, and married) in the same household with Edward Knowlton (56 years, old born in Massachusetts, and married), However, it doesn't state their relationship which could be either her husband or her brother.

Update: Edward Knowlton is her husband.
