Daniel Horace Knowlton made a beautiful walnut desk in 1882 when he was 64 years old. The desk was brought from Garden Plains, Illinois to Palmyra to his daughter, Clara Knowlton Strate. The desk was handed down to Harold Stults. Harold (Uncle Bub) remembered D.H. Knowlton and said D.H. Used to go barefoot in summer and could hop up on a clipped hedgerow and walk on it even when he was an old man. The desk was given by Uncle Bub to Brian E. Gordon, M.D., and will next belong to Charles R. Gordon, M.D. Remembered by Nancy Jane Gordon McKaughan.
