Thomas Knyvett was born in 1447.[1][2] He was the son and heir apparent of John Knyvett, Esq. of Stanway and of Ramsden-Belhouse, Essex, England, and his wife, Margery Baynard, the daughter of Richard Baynard, Speaker of the House of Commons, but did not inherit as he predeceased his father.[1][2]
Thomas married Elizabeth Lunsford, daughter of William Lunsford Thomasina Barrington, before 4 November 1462.[1][2] They had at least three children:
On 4 November 1463, Thomas' father, John, granted the Manor of Whetle in Essex to William and John Lunsford, brothers of Thomas' wife; this probably was a part of the wedding bargain negotiated between the two families.[3]
Thomas died in 1479, predeceasing his father by about one year.[1][2]

See Base Camp for more information about identified Magna Carta trails and their status. See the project's glossary for project-specific terms, such as a "badged trail".
Thomas Knyvet is also potentially the descendant of William d'Aubeney, Lord of Belvoir Castle. His descent from these two Barons is directly from his father, John Knyvet. The potential trails can be inspected at Ten Surety Barons.

I have now finished my review of this profile for the Magna Carta Project, and also edited the profiles of his wife and children (for one of whom I added a profile).
I will be doing a little work on this profile as part my review for the Magna Carta Project of the trail from William Clopton to Surety Baron William de Huntingfield.
