Biography

Hannah Kolb was born 17/25 Feb 1715[1][2]. Her parents were Martin Kolb and Magdalena (Van Sintern) Kolb. She was most likely born in what is now known as Skippack, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania as this is where her parents were living at the time. At the time of her birth it would have been Montgomery Township, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Research Notes

Hannah is frequently shown online as having died in 1720. However, no source has yet been found to confirm. Her father was a well known minister and his children were well documented. It does seem likely that Hannah died as a child. Records of her life would likely be easily found otherwise.

Her father wrote a will in 1749 and she is listed as his child. It is possible that she was just listed and not living at that time. Will Abstract: KOLB, MARTIN. Co. of Philadelphia. Yeoman. June 12, 1749. November 17, 1761. M.215. Children: Isaac, Dielman, Magdalena [Bechtell], Cornelia [Detwiler], Sarah [Ruttenhasen], Mary [Fried] and Hannah. Exec: Wife Magdalena and son Dielman. Wit: Andrew and Michael Zeigler, Jacob Greider.

Alternatively, there are other unsourced family trees that suggest Hannah married Gregorius Detweiler or possibly Johannes/Hans Detweiler. However, this connection is not mentioned in Cassel's research [1] There was a Hannah Kolb born in 1771 who was the d/o Martin Schwarz Kolb who married a Henry Detweiler c. 1792. There is also Hannah Kolb Detweiler b. 1754 (Detweiler is LNAB) in this same area.

Finally, there is a mention of an H. Kolb having died in 1783 in Skippack, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. However, no additional information can be found to confirm that this is the same person. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C34Y-VHVJ?cc=3743478&personaUrl=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3A8JH1-GYZM [3]
