Benjamin Harrison Koontz, aka Bennie Koon, was born on June 14, 1888, in Lawrence County, Ohio. His father was Peter Koontz and his mother's maiden name was Radcliff.
Bennie married America Thompson on January 2, 1913. His WWI draft card states that he was married with a wife and 2 children. Their marriage didn't last. Bennie married Myrtle Marie Vaughn on November 19, 1924. They had one daughter, Katie. Again, his marriage didn't last long. The 1930 census shows Myrtle as divorced.
His WWII draft card shows him living in Huntington, West Virginia, with a Mrs. Evelyn Rogers, who is listed as the person who always knows his address. She was born in 1912, married to Cecil Rogers, and could be related to Bennie.
Bennie's death certificate states that he died of coronary artery occlusion brought on by syphilis. He was in the Prison Hospital at the Columbus State Hospital (aka Ohio Lunatic Asylum, or Central Ohio Psychiatric Hospital)
