Peter was born in about 1814 in Prussia.^[1] (Alternate birthdate/place: 23 December 1816, Location: Wadern, Merzig-Wadern, Saarland, Germany.) He was the son of Joannis Koster and Margaretha Munster.^{[citation needed]}

In the 1870 census Peter (age about 56) was living in Washington, Lucas, Ohio, United States.^[1]
