Any tips on finding ancestors from:

- Greece

- old Germany

And always very interested in the west coast of Sweden in the area around Rönnäng and Stenkyrka (Göteborg och Bohus) and Orust/Tjörn connected to my ancestors from that part of Sweden. As well as Hässjö Västernorrland.

Biography

Marinetta was born in Göteborg. Her Swedish mother Helena Johansson and Greek father Xristos Kotulias were married in the spring of 1985 right before Marinetta was born.

Her father is from Greece and worked as a sailor during his teens and 20's. Her paternal grandmother and aunt still live in Greece (Athens). Her paternal grandfathers is deceased and passed away during the mid 90's (Zakynthos). Their connection is not that strong hence the lack of information. She also has a sister she's never met somewhere in South America (probably Argentina). Her father never speaks of this but she got the information about this from her mother.

Her Mothers ancestors are from the west coast of sweden from Hättan and Lilla Dyrön (a small group of islands between Marstrand and Rönänng). Here their is extensive research made by Arne Carlsson who wrote the book "Med Skärgården som boplats" (With the archipelago as a home). But a lot of information passed down by the elder generation on the island Hättan.

There is also extensive research and old material from her maternal grandmothers line (Lindner and Winter) from Germany. Right now sitting not available to Marinetta ( hopefully soon).

Marinetta went to Chalmers University and has a MSc she went to the same programme as her maternal Grandfather, Mechanical Engineering.

Changed surname 2008 to maternal grandmothers maiden name Törnberg.

Researching my history is hobby of mine, and in certain cases I have a lot of information but as I imagine it is for many of you the blanks are the interesting and frustrating part.

Almost no information on my fathers side (Zakynthos, Athens, Greece)

Hi Marinetta,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Hi Marinetta, I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! This certification requires participation in a project related to the profiles you wish to edit. Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Also, check out our Volunteer Hub to see our projects that really need new members! I see you've talked with Magnus and Lena, have you thought about joining the Sweden project?

Let me know if I can help you with anything, and welcome aboard!

Hej

Min Lindner

Lycka till.. Magnus

Hi Marinetta,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
