I am the eldest of 5 children. I married in 1986 and live on a farm. I gave birth to 2 boys and adopted a girl. I graduated as a Registered Psychiatric nurse in 1986 then became a registered nurse then earned my bachelor's degree in nursing. I am currently a rural home care nurse.
The eldest of 5 children born in Olds Hospital in Olds Alberta. At the time of my birth, my father was with the R.C.A.F and our family lived in staff housing in Penhold, Alberta. When I was approx. 2 years old, my father received an honorable discharge and began working for Corrections Canada in the Drumheller Penitentiary. Our family moved to Drumheller. Between 1967 and 1969, my parents bought a house in Munson, Alberta. I was bussed to school in Morrin, Alberta. In late October of 1976, we moved to a place outside of Bowden, AB and Dad began working in the Bowden Penitentiary. We lived there 2 months and then we moved to Yellowknife, N.W.T. where Dad worked at the Yellowknife Penitentiary. We moved a couple of years later to an acreage west of Thorhild and I started grade 9 in Thorhild Vocational High School. During the summers of my high school years, I was a waitress at a 24 hour truckstop called Sunset on Highway 28 just outside of Egremont, AB. I met my husband the week after I graduated from high school. I attended the University of Alberta Arts program for one year after high school while sharing an apartment with girlfriends from high school. I got engaged in the fall of that year and lost interest in schooling. I was married in August, 1983 in the Waugh Polish Hall north of Bon Accord, AB. I waited table during my first married year at Sunset. i then enrolled in the Alberta Hospital Edmonton Pyschiatric School of Nursing and graduated in 1986. While attending this program, i gave birth to our son Robin. Greg and I bought a farm north of Bon Accord, AB. I studied for my R.N. at Grant MacEwen College full-time during the day while working nights as a psychiatric nurse at Alberta Hospital Edmonton. I received my R.N. in the spring of 1991. While doing this, I gave birth to our second son Graham. i then studied part-time towards my BScN while working. In 1994, I left Alberta Hospital Edmonton and worked in various places, eventually settling in to work full-time as a rural homecare R.N. in Westlock, AB. It took me 10 years to complete my degree. During this time, we adopted a daughter, Kathaleen. We continue to farm and work. == Sources ==
