"Evening Journal", Muscatine, Iowa, July 28, 1897 pg 4 Death of Mrs. Christian Klepper -- At 2 o'clock this afternoon at her home in Sweetland township occurred the death of Mrs. Christian Klepper, of an aposiopetic stroke and heart trouble. Deceased's maiden name was Miss Ann Kutz and she was born in Cumberland county, Pa., August 29, 1817, being nearly 80 years of age. On the 13th of Nov. 1831, she was united in marriage to Christian Klepper. She was the last of a family of thirteen children and a noble wife and mother, a good neighbor and a consistent member of the M.E. church. Besides her husband three sons are left to mourn, being Benjamin, who has always resided at home, Emanuel, of this city, and Alfred H., of Sweetland. Two sons preceded her in death, being Jacob, who died in this city in 1860, and William Amos, who died while in the service of his country in 1863. She came with her husband to Iowa in 1857 and has resided here ever since, being loved and respected by all who knew her and was favorably called, "grandma" by nearly every resident of Sweetland township. A kind mother and noble Christian has gone to her eternal rest. The funeral is appointed for next Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the residence in Sweetland township with interment in the city cemetery, Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa. .
