Biography

Philippe and his wife Jeanne Duval are named on three unfulfilled marriage contracts of their son Jean in New France. The earliest of these was from November 1667, on which Jean noted his father was deceased and that in life he had been a master mason.

Research notes

This profile contained many erroneous assertions which have proven false. The date for Philippe's death shown by many secondary sources as 14 November 1669 is in fact the date of his son Jean's marriage contract with Marie Barbant. As noted in the biographical notes above Philippe was dead before his son's earlier contract in November 1667. The subsequent contracts similarly noted his father was deceased.

The only surname used in the marriage contracts by Jean for himself and his father was de Lalonde and not Lesperance. The dit name would probably have been acquired by the son and not apply to the father.

Jean's first marriage contract also mentioned his father had been a master mason during his life, not a soldier in the Carignan-Salières regiment (which was again the son). This correction was noted in the Comments section for this profile in 2015.

The contracts also note the family was of Le Havre in the archbishopric of Rouen, and have no known connection to the city of Rouen.

Source: Nos Origines - http://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?pid=66114

I'm assuming the marriage date is some automatic estimate based on the son being born in 1641. Without the name of the parish, the date is of little use anyway, especially in a place like Rouen.
Is there a verifiable record for the marriage date (and location) shown here?

We added the France Project as co-manager to help monitoring this profile, given previous problems around it (spurious parents, Carignan-Salières controversy).

What is the documentation for Philippe's parents? According to Beauregard's site the parents are unknown - http://www.francogene.com/genealogie-quebec-genealogy/003/003060.php. I have not seen any documentation either, thanks.
A statement within this profile:

“Il est membre du régiment de Carignan-Salières 2. Il épouse Jeanne Duval avant 1653. Il décède le 14 novembre 1669 1.”. [ In English: “He is a member of the Carignan-Salières 2. He married Jeanne Duval before 1653. He died November 14, 1669. 1”..]” does not appear to be true.

Reference the apparent “sources”: http://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/GenealogieQuebec.aspx?pid=66114 and http://www.nosorigines.qc.ca/biography.aspx?nameLalonde_Philippe&id66114 http://genealogiequebec.info/testphp/info.php?no=32161 http://genealogiequebec.info/testphp/info.php?no=32160

Having examined the supossed “proof”, I no longer believe Philippe Lalonde was a soldier of the Carignan-Salières. Therefore I have removed the categorization I previously placed on this profile.
