A source relaying the story of Charles and Martha is Michigan Trailblazers, a book published in 1930 by their grandson Henry Ormal Severance. Charles' younger brother Ezra married Martha's younger sister Susan. The two couples were among the Michigan trailblazers described in the book. I have my grandpa Lyle's copy of the book. Ezra and Susan were Lyle's grandparents. (all Severances).
