Born 10 JUL 1804. Crudie Acres, Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. [1][2] 1805[3]

Christening: 13 JUL 1804. Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: The parish records duly noted that "David Lamb Tenant in Crudie Acres and his spouse Betty Leslie had a lawful son born on the Tenth, baptized on the Thirteenth day of July in the year Eighteen Hundred and Four named John.". [4][5]


Marriage Husband John Lamb. Wife Elizabeth Deuchar. Marriage Contract: 01 DEC 1837. Parish of Craig, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: Not clear whether contracted in Craig or Rescobie.[6]

02 DEC 1837. Rescobie, Forfarshire, Scotland. [7]

16 DEC 1837. Parish of Craig, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: The Craig parish register recorded that "John Lamb of the parish of Roscobie & Elisebeth Deuchar of this parish were matrimonially contracted on the 1st of December & having been Thrice proclaimed were married on the 16th of December." It is not clear whether the wedding was performed in Craig or Rescobie.[8][9]

Census: 1841 the Farm of Acres, Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: Their census district was "Bounded on the N. by Parishes of St. Vigeans and Carmyllie, on the S. by the Arbirlot and Arbroath Road. On the E. by the Parishes of St. Vigeans & Arbroath, and on the W. by the water of Elliot, comprehending the Village of Arbirlot and the following farm towns with Cottar Houses vizt [?] Broomhill, Crudrie, Fairnyknow, Acres, Bankhead, Lochaber, Newton, Cuthlie, Sitsendrie [?] & Denhead." The family was enumerated with Isobel Findlay, age 10. Their farm was referred to as "Farmers Acres" in Cooks and Kin.[10][11]

30 MAR 1851. Crudie Acres, Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: Their census district included "So much of the Parish of Arbirlot that lies bounded on the East by the parish of Arbroath & St. Vigeans. South by the Sea, North by the Parishes of St. Vigeans & Carmyllie. The River Elliot being the Western Boundary. Computed length and breadth 3 Miles by 1-12 Miles." Arbirlot village itself was 1/4 mile by 14 mile in size. In this census, the family was not enumerated with Elizabeth, Charles or Mary, who were in Craig.[12]

Died 05 JAN 1860. Crudie Acres, Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: of a "fever" he had had for four weeks, at 10:15 in the morning. [13][14][15]

Buried Arbirlot churchyard, Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. Note: John Petrie, joiner, certified to the authorities that he had been buried. In 1958 it was recorded that his tombstone stated he died at age 55. The stone was still extant, though badly weathered, in late 1996.[17][18][19]
