Biography

When Ella J. Lambert (Lillie on Tombstone) was born on 28 August 1879, in Sutton, Nevada, Arkansas, United States, her father, John Ranley Lambert, was 27 and her mother, Emma Augusta Waddle, was 23.

She married Luther Edgar Armstrong on 28 November 1906, in Nevada, Arkansas, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. She lived in Alabama Township, Nevada, Arkansas, United States in 1920 and Albany Township, Nevada, Arkansas, United States in 1930.

She died on 14 December 1937, in Sutton, Nevada, Arkansas, United States, at the age of 58, and was buried in Harmony, Nevada, Arkansas, United States.

In 1880 she was enumerated in Caney, Nevada, Arkansas.[1] The household included John R. Lambert 28, wife Emma Lambert 23, and daughter Ella J. Lambert 10 months.

In 1900 she was enumerated in Albany Township, Nevada, Arkansas.[2] The household included John R Lambert 48, wife Maybelle Lambert 25, daughter Lillie Lambert 18, daughter Willie Lambert 16, son Albert H Lambert 17, daughter Johnnie Lambert 14, daughter Viola Lambert 12, daughter Mattie Lambert 10, and son Robt Lambert 1.

She (age 27) married L E Armstrong (age 28) on 28 November 1906 in Nevada, Arkansas.[3][4]

In 1910 she was enumerated in Emmet, Nevada, Arkansas.[5] The household included Luther Armstrong 32, wife Lillie Armstrong 31, daughter Reva O Armstrong 2, son Lambert S Armstrong 1, and laborer Grover C Ames 20.

In 1920 she was enumerated in Nevada, Arkansas.[6][7] The household included Luther Armstrong 44, wife Lillie Armstrong 40, daughter Reva Armstrong 12, and son Lambert Armstrong 10.

In 1930 she was enumerated in Arkansas Township, Arkansas, Arkansas.[8] The household included L E Armstrong 52, wife Lillie Armstrong 50, son Lambert Armstrong 21, and niece Maurice Lamberet 9.

Lillie died on 14 December 1937 and was buried in 1937 in Harmony, Nevada, Arkansas.[9]


The 1900 census gives Lillie's birthdate as August 1882. Her gravestone says august 28, 1879, which agrees with the ages given in later census records.

1900: living with parents & siblings in Albany, Nevada Co. Age 18. [10]

1906: married L. E. Armstrong on November 28 in Nevada Co.[11]

1910: living with husband Luther and their two children in Emmet. Age 31. Mother of 2, 2 living.[12]

1920: living with Luther and their two children in Albany. Age 41.[13]

1930: living with Luther and their son in Albany. Age 50. [14]

1937: died December 14. Buried in Harmony Cemetery.[15]
