Biography

Belinda Rose daughter of William Walker Lambert and Mary Algate was born about 1833.

William Lambert married by Banns on 26 July 1817 to Mary Algate witnessed by John Rose and David Raven. ^[1]

She was baptised jointly with her brother William on 18 January 1846 at Ickburg and Langford, Norfolk.

She arrived in Nelson, New Zealand on July 12, 1850 from Beachy Head on the ship 'Poictiers'. Belinda was listed as a Servant age 17 and accompanied by her brother George, age 19, Labourer . Belinda and George would have been relieved to finally arrive given their voyage took nearly 5 months.

In 1851 she married James Gifford having 13 children born during her marriage. Two of the children are recorded with no name, 1858, Maud Marion, and 1856 Bertha..

Belinda died age 65 and is buried at Tuamarina cemetery. Administration of her Will was granted to Jacob Gifford of Kowihai, Masterton. ^[2]
