Thomas Lambert, a second son by the same name, was baptized in Thorncombe, Dorset, England on 9 October 1617.[1] Its believe that he came to New England with his father, as his father was often referred to as "Senior" in records, implying that a younger Thomas Lambert was in residence. [1]
He is probably the Thomas listed in the Barnstable list of men able to bear arms (aged 16-60) in 1643.[2] His father would have been over sixty by that time, and no longer eligible.[1] He appears on the list with his father as men of Barnstable who had taken the oath of fidelity in 1657.[3]
There is no known death record or probate for Thomas. He was not mentioned in his father's will dated 23 March 1662/3. His sister Jemima's marriage record in Boston, 10 June 1661, refers to her as the daughter of the late Thomas Lombard, deceased. Their father was still living in 1661. Wakefield speculates that this was a reference to Thomas, Jr. who could have been living in Boston with Jemima, and was 20 years her senior.[1]
