Page 147,History of the Lambert Family, Bold, capital letters,"LINE OF JAMES B. LAMBERT" "James B. Lambert, son of John and brother of Matthias,Jr. was born near Fredrick, Maryland, March 25, 1758. While yet in his youth he migrated with his father and the rest of the family to Wilson Station on the Tygart Valley River, Augusta County , Virginia. According to his application for a pension, he enlisted in the Virginia militia in 1774, and marched with the army of General Andrew Lewis to Point Pleasant where he took part in the battle waged with Chief Cornstalk and his braves. After the battle the young soldier returned to his home at Wilson Station where he remained till the Revolutionary War began. In this conflict his declaration states that he served till 1781 when honorably discharged.

James B. Lambert left Pendleton County with his brothers Matthias and Abraham, having made their first stop in Kentucky. Later he crossed the Ohio River and settled in Dearborn County, southern Indiana. In this county he lived at the time he file d his application for a pension, May 13, 1844. On that date he had passed his eighty-sixth birthday and was described as "a weak and feeble old man." However, it was ten years later when his widow Jane Lambert filed an application to be favored b y the grant of a pension that had been extended to her husband before his decease.

There is some detail in the life of James B. Lambert that needs to be mentioned in order to clarify certain points of interest. As well as the facts can now be ascertained his first wife, Margaret, died, before he left Pendleton County. At the time of departing for Kentucky he indentured his son John, to James B.'s older brother, whose name was also John. No record has been found that he was the father of any other children than John. Now John, the son of James B. Lambert, grew to manhood in Pendleton County and becoming of age he married Winnie Nelson. They left Virginia and settled on the Columbia River, Tennessee, where some of their children were born. Eventually, however, t hey returned to Dry Run, Pendleton County, where they resided the rest of their lives. At that place the children grew to maturity."

James B. Lambert applied for a pension, 13th of May 1844, in Ripley County, Indiana, he lived in Dearborn County, Indiana, closer to Laurenceburg. His Father lived at Wilson's Station. James B. was 17 years old on the 1st of September 1774, his father now moved to the North Fork of the Potomac, Rockingham County, Virginia. James B. Lambert also served in Richmond in July 1775, discharged October 1775. Also served in the spring of 1779, discharged in June or July of 1781.
