History of Bedford and Somerset Counties, Pennsylvania" Bedford County by E. Howard Blackburn; Somerset County by William H. Welfley; v.3, Pub. The Lewis Publishing Company, New York/Chicago 1906, ppg. 204-206

This line, is descended from ancestors who were among the pioneers of Stony Creek township. About 1789 three brothers, John, George and Jacob Lambert, came from York county and took up lands in Stony Creek and Shade townships. John, who settled in Stony Creek, married Mary Statler, who bore him the following children: Samuel, of whom later; Jacob, John, Moses, Mary, Samuel and Catharine, wife of Solomon Kimmel.

John moved from York to Stoneycreek Twp. in 1789. He had a warrant for 600 acres near Lambertsville, Somerset Co., PA dated 5/10/1815. This tract was deeded to a son, Samuel Lambert, Sr. He had a land patent for about 3000 acres of land. He served in the Militia in the Revolutionary War. [Source: Lamberts-ScottEmmel.FTW]

John Lambert subsequently bought other land that was heavily timbered, and from the unbroken wilderness improved the homestead on which his grandson Abraham was born, and which is still owned and occupied by one of his direct descendants. A man of good habits, industrious and economical, he accumulated a good property, and at his death, when eight-two years old, was known and respected as one of the most influential men of the place. His wife, Mary Statler, attained the age of fourscore and four years. They reared nine children, Samuel being the eldest son. (Source: From page 167 of Biographical Review)

John Lambert built the first house in Buckstown in 1805. After the opening of the turnpike in 1817, Mr. Lambert built and operated a tavern in the village. Later, when travel became very heavy over the road, he decided to build houses and shops for a number of the mechanics who came here to live and work.

Some of these newcomers were William Small, who became the town's first blacksmith, and Henry Buck, a wagonmaker who came to live in the village in 1820. Mr. Lambert also erected a store building, which he leased to John Stotler. Stotler named the village in honor of his friend, Henry Buck

John is mentioned in Casper Statler Will. Present at will reading 9/9/1805. (See Will included as separate file) He is buried in Lambertsville on the John Duppstadt farm 2 miles south of Buckstown Pennsylvania.
