Apparently Richard Alexander went by the nickname of "Whiskey Dick' to differentiate him from a cousin, son of Tom Lambert, also named Richard Lambert.
Richard and Alice apparently had ten children, seven of whom lived to adulthood. We are still looking for them.
The names Bob Sherman Hazel and Idey came from a letter from Nancy McClure Tilley, granddauther to James M. Lee.
In 1900, Richard and Alice were living in Macon County with their son William and daughter Nora. Richard was 27, married for two years, a farmer.[2]
In 1910, Richard, Alice and their children were living in Nantahala, Macon County. Richard was 36, a farmer, married 11 years.[3]
