John was born on 28 November 1848 in Barrington, Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was the son of James Lamrock and Mary Ann Snow.[1]
When John was 23 he married Susan Amanda Worthen on 11 September 1872 in Barrington, Shelburne, Nova Scotia. The couple had 9 children: Annie Ida Lamrock, Enos Churchill Lamrock, Mary A. Lamrock, William Arthur Lamrock, Alfred Lamrock, Mary Alice Lamrock, Elizabeth (Bessie) Mabel Lamrock, Norabel Lamrock [2].
In about 1881 John (age about 32) was living in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada.[1]
In 1901 John (age about 52) was living in Barrington Head, Shelburne & Queens (Shelburne), Nova Scotia, Canada.[1].
John Warren was known to be 'rough, peculiar, and bad tempered'. One story was that a neighbour's cow got out and onto John Warrens property, so he picked up an axe and threw it into the side of the cow. If his daughters didn't come home when they were supposed to, he would take the horse whip to them. Despite the above accusations, everyone knew him to be very kind-hearted and would give food and lodging to anyone[3].
John died at the age of 60 on 10 April 1909 in Villagedale, Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada.[1][4]

According to the 1901 Canadian Census John was a fisherman. Also listed in the same household is Evelyn Lamrock, born on Dec 2, 1893 and listed as John Lamrock and Susan Worthen's "Gd Daughter"
