The Black River area is where John Lane (1690-1739) made 1716 SC petition. Four years later he served in the Petit Jury of Prince George Winyaw. In 1735 he was given property on the Black River and built a home by 1737. His children included Peter, Tabitha, James and Sarah,
Y-chromosome for this family would be very helpful. John William Lane (1811-1886) who died in Choctaw county, Mississippi is a descendant of this family. My research shows tha the Y-chromosome of descendants of Osborn Lane match descendants of Joseph Lane and Patience McKinnie. By looking at the Y-chromosome of a male Lane from the family who probably reside today in Attala County, MS would show if there is any connection to Osborn Lane (1757-1840) of Marion County, SC. My research shows that there were 2 Lane families in Georgetown, SC in the early 1800's.
