BBetty Jean Byrd, 90, Gladstone, MO. Passed away August 30, 2011 at St. Luke's Northland Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, at the funeral home, burial will follow the service at White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation 10 a.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Faubion United Methodist Church, Harvesters, reStart or a charity of your choice. Betty was born August 27, 1921 in Independence, MO to Jollie Roe Langdon and Beulah Vera Morrow. She married Charles Arthur Byrd, Sr. on December 8, 1940 and later moved to Gladstone, MO where she was so proud to be a resident for 52 years. She and Charles were married for 61 years prior to his death in 2002. Betty joined Faubion United Methodist Church in 1980 and was an active member of the U.M. Women for 50 years, Family & Community Education, Good Shepherd, Della Lamb, Spofford Home and Harvesters. She dedicated her life to charity to benefit others beyond anyone's imagination. Betty is survived by son Charles A. Byrd, Jr. and wife Judy; former daughter in law, Dianne Vescovo and husband Paul; four grandchildren, Denise Snyder and husband Daniel, Tyron Byrd, Darlene Teague and husband Christopher, and Tiffany DuCoing and husband Jeff; five great grandchildren, Drew Snyder, Paige Snyder, Tyron Byrd, Jr., Carson Teague, and Forrest Byrd. Husband Charles Byrd, Sr., son Jolly E. Byrd and beloved Pookie, predeceased her.
