Sources from family and friends:

Joseph Oren Langdon was born to Oren O. Langdon and Jessie Mae Philpott Langdon on April 1, 1937. His family always called him Joe Oren or Joey.

Joe Oren Langdon's parents had dated many years before they married. Oren O. Langdon was 36 and Jessie Mae Philpott was 34 when they married November 18, 1933.

Joe Oren Langdon was born April 1, 1937. He was a Down Syndrome baby but the family did not seem to realize it at the time. Later on, they thought he had cerebral palsy. Maybe there were too many problems with his mother, Jessie, to think that Joe Oren had any problems.

In the 1940 Census, Oren and Jessie Langdon were living in Ozark Township, Webster County, Missouri. Oren was a truck driver and the house is listed as owned by them. Jessie is 41 years old, Oren is 43 years old and Joseph O. Langdon is listed as their son who is 3 years old. Jessie is described as being sick with nerve problems 8-10 years before she died. Darlena Rudolph Bertoldie, now deceased, described the family and said that Oren "was a good man, very attentive to Jessie and Joe Oren".

In various documents from 1935 through 1941, we learn that Jessie Philpott Langdon was declared incompetent and sent to Nevada, Missouri. This is first mentioned in August 1935. This is 2 years after her marriage to Oren Langdon. On April 1, 1937, Joe Oren Langdon was born. In 1941, Jessie Langdon was readmitted to Nevada. This was in February 17, 1941.
