Identity

The Samuel Langdon son of Samuel (1722-1797) and Elizabeth was deceased prior to 1797. He had just one child Elizabeth. In his will written in September 1797, Samuel Langdon made a bequest to his granddaughter Elizabeth Langdon the only child of eldest son Samuel Langdon “whom it pleased God to take from me in the prime of his life” who receives all his remaining lands in Rochester including 140 acres in lot number 58 and seventy acres in lot number 13. Elizabeth also receives four hundred dollars. Elizabeth receives any residue of the personal estate after the decease of her grandmother.[1]

Samuel son of Samuel and Elizabeth was the eldest son in the family. He was born in 1748 and died at sea in December 1772. His death was reported in the news as this: Captain Samuel Langdon eldest son of Rev. Dr. of Portsmouth, during his passage from the West Indies -- this was reported in the 14 January 1773 news issue which suggests the death occurred around December 1772.[2]

Samuel was born in 1748. He died at sea about December 1772. He married Elizabeth Shackford daughter of John and Catherine (Dennett) Shackford.

Parents: Capt. Samuel Langdon 1722 - 1797 and Elizabeth Whipple (Brown) Langdon 1726 - 1802.

Langdon-1359 and Langdon-820 do not represent the same person because: although the dates are the same the details differ. they should be researched & fully separated.
