Biography

William Lange was a Michigander.
William Lange has German Roots.

Wilhelm Friedrick Lange was born on March 28, 1884 [1] in Taylor, Wayne Count, Michigan to Gottfried Lange Jr and Carolina (Schroeder) Lange.[2]

William, Emma
& Wedding Party

He married Emma Brosch on 9 Feb 1907 in Taylor, Wayne County, Michigan.[3]

In 1910, William was paying a mortgage for his home in Wayne County, Michigan.[4] Additionally, we determine it may have been Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan, which is where son Harold Wilhelm is born. It appears they likely are still residing at same location when Elmer Arthur and Norman Wilhelm are born in 1919 and 1921.

William worked as a Laborer in 1910 and 1920. In 1930 he was working as a Carpenter in the Housing Business. He and the family were residing on Gilbert Street, in the Detroit 18 Ward, Wayne, Michigan in 1910 and 1920. The family in 1930 appears to be doing well. Wilhelm continues as a Carpenter in the Housing Business; Walter is a Die Fitter in Auto Wheel Factory; Harold is also working for the Auto Wheel Factory as a Typing Clerk; and daughter Esther is working as a Stenographer for a Store.[4][5][6]

Wilhelm can be proud in 1940 he had totally paid for the home they owned which was located now in Taylor, Wayne, Michigan at 25900 North Line Rd. (see uploaded photos.) William is now 55 years of age, continuing to work as a Carpenter. Census indicates William earned $980 (today-$18,620) and worked 28 weeks of the year. The last week of March 1940 he worked a 43 hour week. We also learn that William and his wife Emma had elementary education levels.[7]

Their children were Walter Carl Lange (1908 - 1963); Harold W. Lange 1910-1995; Florence Lange-Behling 1914-2002; Elmer Arthur Lange 1919-1992; and Norman W. Lange 1921-1960.

Wilhelm died on July 13, 1950 in Taylor aged 66.[8][1] He was buried at Michigan Memorial Park; Flat Rock, Wayne County, Michigan.[1]
