Notice of resolution of ambiguous parentage

This profile has been edited with regard to parents in accordance with principles established by the European Aristocracy user-group. Medieval genealogy is not an exact science, and digital collaborative genealogy must therefore occasionally make choices where old-fashioned print-scholarship did not have to. The parents (or lack of parents) of the person described in this profile were decided upon in consultation with primary sources especially as collected in the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy’s Medieval Lands project.

Parentage from Ansegisel of Metz is not supported in primary sources. Evidence in general for this person is very slim.

Martin of Laon, sometimes posited as related to Bertrade de Prüm, great-grandmother of Charlemagne is unsupported in primary sources.

Martin was the Count of Laon. Little is known of this person from primary sources. [1] Various Ancestry.com pedigrees have his birth dating from 622 to 670, possibly in April and his death from 680 to 704, posisble on July 17 in Laon, in modern day north France. He may have been executed.

Martin has parents Hugorbert Herstal and Irmina . Surely this is mistake? Should they be disconnected?
Laon-56 and Laon-9 appear to represent the same person because: Is it possible to reconcile these two as they both have the SAME Wife and the same child? Will take some expert investigation. Please HELP...thanks.
