Jesse Laphum(sic) and Marcy(sic) Randall of Pembrook were married 15 Nov 1762, in Pembroke.[1]

Jesse Lapham, (Joseph, Joseph, Thomas, Thomas) son of Joseph and Abigail (Joyce) Lapham was probably born in the 1730s in Scituate MA. He married Mercy Randall 15 Nov 1763(sic - given the above & daughter Mercy's dob this probably should be 1762). Their children are listed as:

  2. Jesse born 19 July 1767, Scituate
  3. Ruth married Abram Holmes.
  4. Charles born 25 Dec 1769, Scituate; married Mary Holmes. Wrecked on coast of Arabia.

and four children:

Research Notes

Prince Lapham married Bethiah Porter the daughter of Capt John Porter & Ruth Stevens. Prince was the son of Jesse and Mercy (Randall) Lapham.[4]

The thing is this source goes on to identify Prince Lapham as one of the two Laphams who died with Captain Oliver Porter in 1805, who are identified elsewhere as Luther & Samuel, e.g.:

"In June, 1805, the Atahualpa, anchored at Milbank Sound, on the mainland coast of British Columbia, in latitude 52° 9'. There the natives made an attempt to capture her... Among the killed are Captain Oliver Porter; ...Luther Lapham, Samuel Lapham, seaman"...[5]

However Prince Lapham, son of Jesse & Mercy, died 16 May 1838 in Marshfield, Plymouth County, Massachusetts and was buried in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Marshfield. [6]

The confusion may have been partly because Bethiah & Capt Oliver were second cousins, sharing a grandfather Nicholas Porter according to the Porter genealogy referenced. Possibly also partly because Prince had a brother James who was 'lost at sea' and another, Charles, who was "Wrecked on coast of Arabia".
