Elizabeth Larkin was born on 5 (7) 1641 (5 September 1641), in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her parents were Edward and Joanna Larkin. They had arrived in Charlestown from England by 1638, and Elizabeth was their second child.[1][2]
Elizabeth's father died on 15 November 1651,[3] when Elizabeth was 10 years old. Prior to Edward's death Elizabeth's younger sister Hannah had been given to close friends of her parents, John and Joanna Penticost, who had no children of their own. By 1658 John Penticost was a widower, and he married Elizabeth's mother; it was the second marriage for each of them.[4] Joanna and Elizabeth were thus reunited with Hannah, then age about 15.
Elizabeth married John Newton on 5 June 1666, in Charlestown.[5][6]
John's parents were living in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, and Elizabeth and John moved there after they married. They had children, all born in Marlborough:[7]
John (5 Jun 1667), married Hannah Morse b 7 Apr 1674 of Groton daughter of Joseph and Susannah (Shattock) Morse; they had 13 children
Samuel (23 Dec 1668), married his uncle Isaac Newton's widow Rebecca on 8 September 1688, but because of consanguineal law their marriage was terminated on 25 Aug 1690, before the birth of their second child. Samuel disappeared from Marlborough and was listed as "fell overboard and was drowned."
Zachariah (25 Mar 1671), married Mary Axtell
Elizabeth (3 Jan 1672/3), married Zachariah Eager
Thomas (27 or 29 Dec 1674), married Rebecca Ward
Johannah (May 1677), married Deacon Ebenezer Singletary, then James Brewer
Sarah (Nov 1679), married Jonathan Rugg; died in 1710 as a complication of childbirth
Nathaniel (12 Dec 1680), no further records
Experience (1 May 1683), married John Smith
Elizabeth died on 15 October 1719, in Marlborough. John died there on 16 October 1723.[8]
Elizabeth has a Find A Grave: Memorial #32723498 that has her buried in the Old Common Cemetery, Marlborough.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Mnu-337 and Larkin-172 do not represent the same person because: Elizabeth Larkin (Larkin-172) died in 1719 in Massachusetts (apparently never even lived in Maryland). Wife of a Mr. Newton. Not sure how the misinformation arose on Ancestry.com trees that she was connected to Henry Pierpoint of Maryland.
