Born in Michigan City, Indiana on September 9, 1952 along with cousin Karen Powell. Same day, same place, same doctor. Parents divorced in 1956 (?). As a child, lived in Michigan City, Ft. Lauderdale Florida, Hollywood Florida, Saigon Vietnam, Russelsheim Germany, Bangkok Thailand. Back in Michigan City, graduated Elston Sr. High School in1970. US Air Force from 1971 to 1975. Military Working Dog Security. Stationed at Grissom AFB in Indiana '71-'72, U-Tapao Thailand '72-'73 and back to Grissom '73-'75. Married Candace J. Eichelberg in 1974 and we are still married today (9/22/21) after 47 years of marriage. I worked a few small jobs around Michigan City while going to Purdue Northcentral Campus for Electrical Engineering. Our daughter Jamy Joy was born in 1980. Moved to Tigard, Oregon in 1981. I worked with Broad & McLung-Pace in Milwaukie Oregon as a submittal engineer. Our son Adam George was born in 1984. During the 1984 recession I couldn't find anything in my career field so worked as a portrait salesman for Photo Corporation of America (PCA) for a year or two before getting back to Sales Engineering for an HVAC company and later a Drafter for a roller coaster manufacturer and for Oregon Saw Chain (now Oregon Tool) in Milwaukie Oregon. In 1993 I finally settled into a position with Lowell E. Pauli and Associates (LEP) in Milwaukie, Oregon as a Drafter, Sales Manager, IT Manager and Project Manager. I left LEP in 2000 for a similar position in Louisiana, which did not work out, then started my own consulting business, Stephen E. Lasko & Associates in Dubach/Ruston Louisiana. This business and the LEP position worked almost exclusively with the wood industry. When 9/11 happened, the wood industry suffered terribly and I had to change course. In 2002 We sold our ranch property in Dubach, put everything in storage and purchased a motor home and traveled as an equine photographer, which was a very successful venture. Candace and I traveled extensively shooting horse shows and private ranch sittings. We shot by invitation only and specialized in the English disciplines and especially Peruvian Paso's, shooting regional shows and the US National's as well as the Central American National Peruvian Paso show. In 2010 we took over what I like to call a "glorified Starbucks" café in Crystal River Florida which did not work out. We went back to the photo business in 2011. In 2012, with my mother beginning to fail, we moved back to Florida. I went to work part time for the Citrus County Chronicle, a county newspaper, as one of two photographers. In 2016 we joined the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) where Candace and I both became Facilitators and I became President of the local affiliate, NAMI Citrus. In 2018 my mother (Patricia Archer) died. In 2020 we officially retired and moved to Wheatland, Missouri where we presently live.
