Hodgman and Deputy Sheriff Charles McEntee both of whom were out of the city today. Dr. Chartes T. Yarington of Moravia was called to the scene of the accident, near Globe Hotel, Town of Niles, south and east of Auburn on the road to Moravia, In the absence of Coroner Hodg- man, Doctor Yarington made his report to Dr. George B. Adams of this city, director of the Cayuga County Laboratory, acting for Coroner Hodgman. Doctor Adams gave permission for removal of .the body to the undertaking rooms of the Wade Funeral Serv- ice at Moravia. Death was ap- parently caused by a fracture of the skull. The fatal" aecident happened at the intersection of a cross roads, leading east and west, with the main north and south highway, near Globe Hotel. The pjace of the accident is about six miles north of Moravia Village. On Way Home Professor Latham was alone in his car, on his way back to Sim- mons College, where he was pro- fessor of economics. He was driv- ing toward the north and had reached the cross roads, when ' an automobile came from the east on the intersecting route. The vehicles collided, professor Lath- am's car being turned around and forced into a ditch. It was wedged between two trees. Professor Latham died almost instantly, early arrivals at the scene of the accident stated. Deputy Sheriff McEntee was notified by telephone at Auburn that a serious accident had hap- pened. He made a quick run to the close roads, known as the Four Corners, and made an in- vestigation. .. Occupants of the other car figuring in the accident gave their names as George Holcomb, 20, Miss Frances Morgan, 18; and Miss Marietta Kennedy, 18, all of Moravia. Holcomb and Miss Kennedy were taken to Auburn City Hos- pital. Both had lacerations on their faces. Miss Kennedy was discharged today. Holcomb is still in the hospital.
