Rufus S. Lathrop, the son of Captain Elijah Lathrop and Dorcas Kibbe, was born 1781 in Connecticut. On May 28, 1807, he married Elizabeth Lovejoy, the daughter of Peter and Silence Bartlett Lovejoy. The wedding was in Palmer, Massachusetts. Rufus and Betsy had 7 children: William Henry, George, Nancy, Charles, Lucy Elizabeth, Mary (Welch), and Harriett (Maltby). ^[1]
