Biography

Matthew Elver was a Physician.

Matthew Elver Laughlin was born on September 7, 1823, son of Matthew Laughlin (1784–1857) and Nancy Spiller (1787–1866).

Marriage

Matthew married Martha E Bush.[1] [2] [3] Their daughter was Metta Laughlin (1870– ).

In 1850, Matthew (26) was living in Fitchville, Huron County, Ohio with Timothy Gibson (71), Priscilla Gibson (66), and Lucy Gibson (24). Matthew was a Medical Student and likely a boarder with the Gibson family.[4]

Marriage

Mathew Elver married Ann Augusta Mead on March 1, 1857, in Huron, Ohio.[5]

Residences / Family

In the 1860 census Elver (age 35), a Physician, and his wife Ann were living in Clinton, Huron, Ohio, with their child Martha (1) and Frank Beardsly (12) (relationship not specified).[6]

Draft Registration

Mathew registered for the Civil War draft in June 1863 in Fitchville, Ohio. He was 39 years old, his occupation was listed as a Physician, and his birthplace was Ohio. [7]

Matthew's wife Ann died in March 1864 at the age of 26.[8]

Second Marriage

Mathew married Martha E. Bush on April 27, 1865 in Huron, Ohio.[9]

In 1870, Matthew and Martha were living in Fitchville, Huron County, Ohio with their daughter Mattie (11). [10]

In 1880, Matthew (56) was living in Huron with his wife, Martha (47); and their daughter, Mary E. (10). [11]

Matthew died on March 27, 1891, aged 67.[12] [13] [14]
