Charles Broly Laughlin (b. 31 Dec 1851, Shelby County, Ohio - d. 5 Nov1903, Seneca, Missouri) lived in Shelby County and taught school forthree years before moving to Kansas in 1871 where he lived for 8-10years. For six years he was employed in the government Indian servicefor the Quapaw agency. He married Miss Rebecca Flint on 15 March 1882.He came to Seneca, Missouri in 1886 and was principal of the school.From Seneca, he went to Granby and was a grain buyer before coming backto Seneca with the Brinson-Judd Grain Company - it being changed to theBrinson Wagoner Grain Company - where he remained as the local manager tothe time of his death. He was killed by a freight train, which wasswitching at the elevator of the Brinson Wagoner Grain Company. He andW. B. Harmon were examining a car of corn on the sidetrack when theaccident happened and was instantly killed. "His word was as good as hisbond, and in his death, the town loses a good citizen." He was a memberof the Presbyterian Church.
