Wedding

WELLS— LAURIE.

(Contributed.)

A very pretty wedding took place on Wednesday, June 21st, when Claude Charles Wells, Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wells, of Chatham, was united In the Holy Bonds of Matrimony to Irene May Laurie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Laurie, of Victoria Street, Taree. The ceremony took place in the Church of Christ Chapel, Taree, which was tastefully decorated by the friends of the bride and bridegroom. Evangelist G. E. Burns officiated. The bride entered the Church on the arm of her father, and looked charming in a gown of white silk, trimmed with shadow lace, silk ribbon and orange blossoms, and also wore the customary wreath and veil, and carried a bouquet of white roses and jonquils and asparagus fern, and also wore a beautiful ruby and pearl spray brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. She was attended by Miss Doris Wells, sister of the bridegroom, who was attired in a pale cream lace dress with pink trimmings, and wore a gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. She also carried a bouquet of white and pink roses. Mr. Wm. Adams, of Dumaresque Island, filled the position of best man. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's parents, where a few near relatives and friends assembled, Evangelist Burns presiding. The cake, which was of the latest design, was made by Mr. A. Baker, who also carried out the catering in his usual satisfactory manner. The bride and bride groom were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents. At the conclusion of the breakfast Mr. and Mrs. Wells left by train for Wauchope and Port Macquarie, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in a navy blue silk poplin coat and skirt, with black hat and white feathers to match. Both the wedding and travel ling dresses were beautifully made by the bride's mother.[2]
