Biography

Marguerite, daughter of Gilles Lauzon and Marie Anne Archambault, was born on 24 May 1659 in Montréal, Canada, Nouvelle-France.[1]

On November 23, 1672, Marguerite, 13, married master baker, Etienne Forestier, 28, son of Étienne Forestier and Judith Fonton in Montréal, Canada, Nouvelle-France.[2]

The couple had 15 known children.[3][4][5]

  1. Francoise Forestier (1675-1677), born in Pointe-aux-Trembles, baptized in Montreal, April 20, 1675, died Dec, 20, 1677 Pointe-aux-Trembles.
  2. Louise Forestier (1677-1737), born in Riviere-des-Prairies, baptized on on 2 Oct 1677 in Pointe-aux-Trembles marrried René Douillard in 1694.
  3. Antoine (Forestier) Forestier dit Lafortune (1679-1703) born Pointe-aux-Trembles, b 26-09-1679 Montréal, married Marie-Catherine Juilliet in1701
  4. Catherine Forestier (1681-bef.1724) born Riviere-des-Prairiess and baptized 13-03-1681 Pointe-aux-Trembles, married Gabriel Baudreau in 1701.

Marguerite Lauzon, aged 44, died on November 14, 1699 in Montréal, Canada, Nouvelle-France. [7] She was survived by her husband, Etienne Forestier, and 9 of her 15 children.

About a year after her death, her widow Étienne married Marie Marguerite Provost (abt.1655-1732), Filles du Roi, and widow of Jacques Venne (1645-1700).

Research Notes

  • PRDH lists 16 children for Family #4033. Louise is listed twice. The first is with a birthdate of 1677-10-11 in Point-Aux-Trembles (baptized St.-Enfant-Jesus), the second with a birthdate of 1677-10-12 in Montreal (baptized Notre-Dame-de-Montreal) . This is a duplicate registration (IGD).[8]
