Louisa and John appear, living in Hellingly, in the censuses of 1841[4], 1851[5], 1861[6] and 1871[7].
After her husband James's death in 1878, Louisa kept house alone in Hellingly, variously described as a labourer's widow living on her own means in the censuses of 1881[8], 1891[9] and 1901[10].
