George Lavender is a Military Veteran.

George Appell Lavender was born on 18 Jan. 1902 at Waco, McLennan Co., Texas, USA.[1] He appeared on the census of 16 April 1910 in the household of his parents, Luther Casper Lavender and Mary Hettie (Griffin) Lavender, at Waco, McLennan County, Texas, USA.[2]

He began military service on 28 July 1920 at Waco, McLennan County, Texas, USA, Company D, 11th Engineers US Army. He ended military service on 10 Sep. 1923 at New York City, New York, USA.[3]

He married Susie Lee Sorrels on 4 Jan. 1924 at Waco, McLennan Co., Texas.[4] He and Susie Lee Sorrels were divorced before the 1930 census. He was a house painter when he appeared on the census of 9 April 1930 in the household of his father and step-mother at Waco, McLennan County, Texas, USA.[5]

He was admitted on 17 Sep. 1932 at the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas, suffering from tuberculosis.[6] He died on 25 Nov. 1951 at Veterans Administration Hospital, Waco, McLennan Co., Texas, at age 49, his death certificate shows that cause of death was carcinoma of the liver. He was buried at Robinson Cemetery, Robinson, McLennan Co., Texas, USA.[1] His memorial has a photo of his headstone.[7]
