Biography

John was born in 1903[1], the eldest the son of William Lawson and Jessie Sykes.

I am unsure when John went to Australia but in 1937[2] he married Phyllis Ethel Dickinson at the Ballarat Methodist Church.

After their wedding they returned to Sydney and then left Sydney to make their home in Wellington, New Zealand.

Back in New Zealand John & Phyllis can be found in Lower Hutt where John's occupation was "Engineer".[3]

By 1949 John and Phyllis were back in Australia residing in Caulfield, Victoria.[4] It would seem that they had two children. They were to remain in Australia until their deaths.

John was an executive with General Motors Holden. Phyllis was an opera singer and actress and performed under the direction of J C Williamson.

John died in 1995 and is buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
