Coleman was a Rev. War Veteran. In 1781, he again served a 3 month term for his uncle Richard Coleman. Received a pension of $70. per annum. See part 1 of the above. In ca. 1840 Jane Layton Clayton applied for Colemans pension. She makes statement that she & Coleman were married in 1793. Her marriage bond says 1820 (copy held by Jim Clayton). Family lore gives Coleman a wife named Fannie. She has been entered with caution. Coleman Clayton, son of John Clayton, Sr., died in 1839. At his death his wife was Jane Layton Clayton. Two marriage bonds, one real the other inferred to, were recorded for Coleman and Jane. They create doubt that Jane was mother of his children. In 1820 the only existing marriage bond was issued to them, long after Coleman's sons were born. In 1843, after the death of her husband, widow Jane Layton Clayton applied for his War Pension. After that, there is a proprietary block. The gist I get is that Jane Layton was claiming Fannie Clayton's (UNKNOWN-66438; some websites claim that Clayton is her maiden name, but I don't know what the proof is) children were her own for financial gain. Thus the correct marriage date for Jane should be 1820, not 1793, and Robert Coleman Clayton's (Clayton-1504) mother should be Fannie, not Jane.
I've placed some additional information under the Sources section of the Coleman Clayton profile.
