Father was born February 22, 1874, being 63 years of age at the time of his death. He lived his entire life in Simpson county.
He was first married to Miss Mollie Myrick in the year 1899; to this union were born six sons and three daughters, one daughter having died in infancy, and our mother, who died in 1828.
He later married Miss Callie Garrett, who, with his eight children, Eugie T. Layton, Magee; Vyron Layton, Magee, Claude Layton, Jackson, Otha Layton, Laurel; Estus Layton, Jimmie Layton, Mrs. Marvin Craft and Mrs. Olon Craft, of Magee; one sister, Mrs. A. P. Bruce, thirteen grandchildren and a host of other relatives are left to mourn his passing.
