Tom Layton migrated from England to Victoria on Charlotte Gladstone in 1869.
The son of Edward Layton and Sarah Tyrrell, Tom was born about 1863 in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, England,[1] and was baptised on 30 August 1863.[2]
As a five year old, Tom emigrated to the Colony of Victoria with his parents and six of his siblings, arriving in Melbourne on Christmas eve 1869 on board the Charlotte Gladstone.[3]
