In Memoriam: Paul LeBreton was an active and generous member of WikiTree. Their presence in our community will be missed. However, their many contributions will live on as part of our shared family tree. This is a gift they gave to family members, distant cousins, and future generations, and is now a permanent part of their legacy.

Biography

Paul is the son of Napoléon (Paul) LeBreton (1916-1996) & Émilia Gauthier (1929-2003) of Mattawa. Married Feb.14 1998 to Heather Lynn Warren of Sturgeon Fall, daughter of Alexander (Sanny) Warren & Nancy Maeck, Paul is a loving father to Stephanie, Alyssa, Emily, Kayla & Anaiah. Nothing is more special to Paul than his four wonderful grandchildren: Rayne and Harlow Plouffe LeBreton & Forest Paul & Starling LeBreton-Raymond. Dear brother to Pauline, Joseph (1953-1979), Madeleine - 1954-2003 (Edward Guilbeault), Thérèse (Leo Desrosiers 1974-2003), Charles of Montreal, André of Alberta, Noella (Albert Chartier). Uncle to John, Billy, Kevin & David Lanktree, Cindy & Steven Guilbeault, Leo Joseph & Tammy Desrosiers, Crystal, Renée, Janelle & Janessa LeBreton, André Jr. LeBreton, Dwayne & Crystal Lanktree and many other great nieces & nephews. Paul was raised in Mattawa, Ontario; despite being poor when he was young, Paul loved his childhood and had many adventures. Paul graduated from F.J. McElligott Hight School. He attended Canadore & Cambrian College. Gave his life to God when he was 19 and was baptized in Jesus' Name in the Sturgeon River, Sturgeon Falls, Ont. Paul worked as a Millwright at Tembec (Rayonier) in Temiscaming Qc. and retired in April 2022 after 30 years of service. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved camping at ToJo’s with his children & grandchildren, loved music, movies & Funko Pop’s. Paul served as a Deacon in the church and was a member of the Christian motorcycle club “Eternal Riders”. Loved flying south in the winter with his wife Heather. He loved looking into his genealogy and adding all the information he found to his genealogy books “LeBreton Un Nom Une Famille – LeBreton A Name A Family” & “Gauthier Un Nom Une Famille – Gauthier A Name A Family”. Paul had many trials & tribulations but stayed true to his word and kept his faith in Jesus, his Saviour till the end.

Gauthier

These are the descendants of Pierre Gauthier dit Saguingoira & Marie-Charlotte Roussel who is known as ‘Kings Daughter’, ‘Fille du Roi’ she was later killed in the Iroquois attack on Lachine Qc. Both came from France and were married November 12, 1668, in Montreal, Qc. And had 9 children. His son Joseph {1672-1749} married twice. First time to Clemence Jarry {1657-1717} and the second time with Marie Fortier {1691-1777} in 1718. Joseph & Marie Fortier’s son Jean-Baptiste {1726-1818} Married Marie Amable La Rivière {1735-1762} They had 9 children. He later married Marie Geneviève Dufour. Jean-Baptiste & Marie Amable La Rivière’s son, Jean-Baptiste Jr. {1752-1843} married Marguerite Ursule Larocque {1755-1833} who had six children. Their son Joseph {1785-1851} married Marie Amable Bénard dit Bonnenfant {1792-1837} and a 2nd time to Cecile Dumoulin. Michel & Marie Amable Bénard dit Bonnenfant had one son Michel {1819-1903). He married Rosalie Dionne {1834-1909}. Her Tombstone is in Val-des-Bois QC. They had two children Tarsile who is also buried in Val-des-Bois. And Damase Gauthier{1862-1957} who married Délima Latour {1865-1958) in 1882. He was 21 & she was 16. they had 15 children. They celebrated their 60th anniversary in Buckingham in 1932. It was quite the event with about 500 people who attended. Their Tombstone is in Buckingham. Their eldest son, my great grandfather, Hormidas Gauthier {1884-1935) married Malvina Charbonneau in Val-des-Bois QC. In 1903. Hormidas died in a car accident with 2 companions November 3rd, 1935, after their car drove off Stravy Creek not far from his home and they all drowned that Sunday morning. They had 9 children. The eldest, my grandfather Emile Gauthier {1907-1938) married Regina St-Amour in 1929. They had 6 children; my mother Emilia {1929-2003) married my father, Napoléon (Paul) LeBreton. He was from Pabos-Mills Gaspé Qc. Son of Charles LeBreton & Marguerite Hélène Giroux. Napoléon better known as Paul & Émilia had 8 children, two of which have died, Joseph died in Toronto at 26 {1953-1979}, He is buried in Mattawa, & Madeleine {1954-2003) who died of cancer. Pauline is the oldest, Joseph, Madeleine, Therese, Charlie, André, me, Paul & Noella. Emile & Regina’s other children are Marie Fleurette Anette {1930-1930}, Réginald Joseph {1933-1934}, Lionel (1934-2017) who married Jacqueline Patry and had 7 children. They are buried in Mattawa along side his mother Régina St-Amour Janveaux. Laurentia {1936- } who married Émile Dupuis (1933-1991). He died from complications of Lupus & Reynaud’s disease and is buried in Mattawa with his son André who died in a drowning accident. They had 6 children. Finally, Corana {1938-2004) she married Lucien Lalonde and had 5 children. Corana & Lucien are also buried in Mattawa with their granddaughter Isabella Victoria Gillespie. I’m Paul LeBreton I married twice, first time with Céline Morin we had 3 children: Stephanie in 1991, Alyssa in 1992 & Emily in 1994, In 1998 I married Heather Lynn Warren daughter of Alexander Warren from Scotland & Nancy Maeck from South River Ont. We have two children, Kayla born in 1995 & Anaiah born in 1998. I have four grandchildren: Rayne & Harlow Plouffe LeBreton & Forest & Starling Raymond.
