• Just to note that Josephine was born 2 years after the great Chicago Fire( Oct 8, 1871)

On the certified copy of Louis's; birth certificate it shows that Josephine's full maiden name as; Josephine L. Bruce;. Her first husbands name was William Ottley! I have it that her maiden name was; Lebrun;. I don't know where the Bruce comes from unless it just wasn't written well enough for someone to read.

June 13th, 1870 Illinois Census for Cook County, City of Chicago- Ward 8, Micro Copy M-593, Roll 203, Page 199. Shows Charles Lebrun age 32 and Mary 31 years. old. Charles Occupation was a Cook. Henry was 4 years old and Sarah was 2 years old. Both Mary and Charles was born in Belgium. The value of their Real Estate was $1,500.00

The 1880 Census for Cook County, City of Chicago, Ward 7(part of), Illinois. Micro copy T-9, Roll 190, Vol. 10, ED#67, Sheet, 52, Line 28. This census shows that Charles had died Between 1872-1880. Shows Mary age 40 years old, with Henry 14 years old ( occupation as Painter), Sarah 12 years old, Tealsfore 9yrs old and Josephine 6yrs old. This census shows that Mary(Marie was born in France living at 462 Union St., Cook County with her mother Mary Lewis(Marie Looze) who was 75 years old also born in France

Source 1) Contacted James Euclide; who has some of the same family surnames as we do. He contacted a cousin of his in Belgium who translated the old document from the mayor of in Wasseiges, Leige, Belgium dated 14 march 1856. Look at scrapbook for info from James
