In 1894, started his own loan brokerage business. Secretary of Westmorland Club, Richmond; Treasurer of Virginia Historical Society; one of the organizers, and one-time President of the Associated Charities of Richmond; during WWI, served as inspector of Richmond Red Cross Canteen; author of “Historic Virginia Homes and Churches; unmarried (as of 1922).

Nantes, 10 March 1756, d. 23 Dec 1824 Cumberland County, VA; “succeeded as Count DeRIEUX, 1776; Captain, body guard (the Old Blue Guard), of Louis XVI, France”; came to Albemarie County, Virginia in 1784; Later settled in Cumberland, VA; married in Paris, 14 October 1780 to MARIE MARGUERRETTA MARTONI (b. London 27 May 1762; d. Richmond, VA 13 Dec 1826), daughter of Joseph Martoni (d. London 1 Nov 1764), a London merchant, and his wife Catherine Petrouille [(d. 1788). She married second to Philip Mazzai, came to VA in 1773]; their daughter ADELAIDE MARIA DeRIEUX (b. Laurel Springs, Goochland, VA; d. Richmond, 27 Jan 1882), married JOHN ALEXANDER LANCASTER on 2 Dec 1819.^[3]
