GEORGE RICHARD LEACH was a sailor in the Merchant Navy aboard S.S Blairatholl (Glasgow) which was in collision with SS John Bakke on the 26th November 1942. At 07.21 GMT the following day Blairatholl sent an SOS. "Foundering. Require Assistance. Taking to rafts. Boats carried away". Blairatholl foundered while proceeding to St. John's Newfoundland. The BLAIRATHOLL sank at
position 51.25N 48.30W The JOHN BAKKE was a 4718 ton Danish/Norwegian vessel.
