Elizabeth aged 51 born England is recorded on the 1880 Illinois census living near her son Albert and his family. [1]

James and Elizabeth Leach Stafford immigrated from Manchester England at Cheshire about 1843 and settled in Albion, Edwards County, Illinois. James was a stonemason and farmer.

Children of James and Elizabeth Stafford are: - HANNAH STAFFORD, born 1837 in England. Hannah married John STANDRING June 5, 1855. They had 6 children, Lizzie, Emma, Frank, Kate, Charles, and George. - RACHEL STAFFORD, born November 11, 1842, in England and died April 13, 1893. Rachel married Sylvester BUNTING September 18, 1864. They had 7 children, Gussie, Elmer, Roy, Olive, Thomas, Etta and Earl. - MARIAH STAFFORD, born August 18, 1844, Edwards County, Illinois and died February 14, 1930. Mariah (Maria) married Luke BUNTING, September 19, 1866. They had two children Clara and Elizabeth. Luke Bunting died in 1870. In 1873, Mariah married Cyrus Pugsley OAKLEY and they had 7 children, James, William, Bertha, Van Franklin, Ella Mae, Della, and Eldon. Per the Illinois 1850 census Mariah was the first child to be born in America to James and Elizabeth. - THOMAS STAFFORD, was born July 31, 1850 in Edwards County. Illinois. He died in March 26, 1925. Thomas married Fanny SUMMERS, September 10, 1875; they had 5 children, Mary, Lyman, Dolly, John, and Leo. - FLORENCE STAFFORD was born February 15, 1852 in Edwards County, Illinois, and died April 8, 1940 in Albion, Illinois. Florence married Charles Maurice (aka Morris) BUNTING February 14, 1870; they had 6 children, Oscar, Bertha, Jessie, Cora Jane, Ernest, and Connie. - JOHN STAFFORD was born in 1854. He ran away from home to join the army. He was a veteran of the Indian and Spanish American wars. John married Cornelia GIBBS and they had two daughters, Pauline and Harriet. He died Dec. 10, 1943 in San Diego, California. - ALBERT STAFFORD was born February 8, 1857 in Albion, Illinois and died December 20, 1894. Albert married Hannah GILL, September 30, 1874. Their children were James, Thomas, Nora, Viola, Alma, Maud, Alta, Bradford and Vivian. It is possible there was another child: Ruby, b. 1888 (not proven).
